Building Leadership,
Strengthening Organizations & Connecting Communities
Elysium LELC brings together human depth and strategic capability, combining senior operational and governance expertise with deep lived-experience insight. Our work strengthens leadership, organizational systems, and workforce wellbeing, delivering measurable outcomes that support both people and performance.
Who We Are
Elysium LELC (Lived Experience Leadership Collective) is a strategic, values-led social enterprise in practice specializing in psychosocial safety, Lived Experience leadership and organizational development. We design purpose through profit using organizational capacity-building consultancy services to sustainably fund Lived Experience leadership development and systems change. We work with human depth, and we deliver organizational outcomes.
Based in North Queensland, we understand the complexities of operating within high-risk and high-intensity sectors, including defence, mining, government, and frontline health services. Elysium partners with organizations to embed psychosocial safety through leadership capability, systems design, and ethical engagement with Lived Experience.
Elysium LELC honors lived experience as strategic organizational capability, translating personal wisdom into leadership capability, effective systems, and meaningful collective action. Our work is grounded in the belief that purpose and profit are not opposites and when designed intentionally, commercial success can directly fund social impact.
About the Founder
Elysium LELC was founded by Leith Milton-Short, who brings a unique combination of executive leadership and Lived Experience expertise to organizational development and systems change.
Leith brings over a decade of executive and operational leadership experience across sectors including construction, community services and suicide prevention. Her leadership background includes five years in construction as well as five years as Company Secretary and six years as Leader of Operations, People and Performance at The Oasis Townsville, alongside two years of project leadership within the National Suicide Prevention Trial through Operation Compass.
Through this work, she has developed deep insight into the pressures faced across Northern Queensland’s high-intensity environments, including defence communities, transitioning ex-ADF personnel, construction, FIFO workforces and frontline service sectors.
Alongside this professional experience, Leith brings nearly three decades of Lived Experience navigating suicide prevention, mental health challenges, alcohol and other drug recovery, domestic violence, and complex life transitions. This combination of lived insight and strategic capability enables Elysium to approach organizational change with both authenticity and practical systems thinking.
Elysium bridges human experience and organizational performance - strengthening leadership, embedding psychosocial safety, and supporting more connected communities.
Our Purpose
Elysium LELC exists to restore hope and build capacity by honoring lived experience as wisdom, and translating it into leadership capability, effective systems, and organizational practices that strengthen people, reduce risk, and support sustainable performance across workplaces and communities.
Our Vision
We envision a future where lived experience is honored as wisdom and translated into leadership, systems, and collective action restoring hope, strengthening organizational culture, and supporting communities and workplaces to move from pain to purpose and thrive together.
The Elysium story
Elysium is a symbol of hope.
It is living proof, born of lived experience, that no matter how dark the night becomes, the dawn will always follow. The sun will rise again.
Even in the deepest moments of despair, the ability of the human spirit to endure, adapt, and overcome remains.
Elysium reminds us that hope does not disappear in darkness, it often quietly waits to be rediscovered.
Like the flower that blooms through cracks in the pavement, Elysium speaks to the beauty that can emerge from the most unexpected and difficult places. It is a reminder to never underestimate your ability to grow, to find meaning, and to create something beautiful no matter where you stand or what you have endured.
Most importantly, it reminds us to never underestimate ourselves, or the extraordinary capacity of the human spirit to survive even the unimaginable.
At Elysium, we believe hope is rarely loud. It is not always a roaring lion announcing its arrival.
More often, hope lives in the small, courageous acts - putting one foot in front of the other, choosing to keep going, and refusing to give up even when the path feels impossibly heavy.
Elysium is often described as a place or a state of perfect happiness and peace - a moment of bliss, a feeling of paradise. But Elysium is not a destination. It is not a place you arrive at once and stay forever.
Elysium is the ability to find peace, joy, and hope even while walking through darkness. It is the moment you realise that pain does not define you, that your experiences carry wisdom, and that your story can become a source of strength for yourself and for others.
Elysium exists to honour that truth:
that within every person is the capacity to rise, to heal, and to transform lived experience into purpose, leadership, and hope.

Elysium is not a place - it is the reminder that no matter how dark the night, the dawn will always follow. It is the quiet hope found in persistence, the strength born from lived experience, and the belief that even through the cracks, something beautiful can grow.
